The House That Softened the Jacket
Cesare Attolini is the name behind the Neapolitan jacket, and Damiani Miami is proud to carry it. In the 1930s in Naples, tailor Vincenzo Attolini took the padding and stiff structure out of the English-style jacket and made something light enough to fold, soft at the shoulder and shaped to the man wearing it.
The style went on to dress Vittorio De Sica, Marcello Mastroianni and the Duke of Windsor. Vincenzo's son Cesare learned the craft beside him, and Cesare's sons, Massimiliano and Giuseppe, lead the house today. Attolini tailoring is still made by hand, with the details that made it famous, like the boat-shaped breast pocket and a shoulder that moves with you.
