Alessandro Gherardi makes shirts in Pieve Santo Stefano, a small town in the upper Tiber Valley in the Tuscan province of Arezzo, and Damiani Miami carries its sport shirts.
The workshop took shape there at the end of the 1970s under Alessandro Gherardi, who runs the company today with his children, Claudia and Paolo. Every shirt is 100 percent made in Italy, and the company ships more than 500,000 shirts a year around the world, including shirts it makes for other luxury brands.
Tradition meets technology in the factory. Seamstresses still sew the buttonholes and buttons by hand and finish the stitching, while experienced artisans pass their knowledge on to the next generation.
